Back pain is an incredibly common problem. Virtually everyone will experience some amount of back pain during their lifetime. And pain is always an unpleasant experience. It can be scary and it’s only natural that you want to know why you’re in pain.

Back pain, x-rays and MRI scans

That’s why many people want to have x-rays or an MRI taken. What most people don’t realise is that x-rays and MRI scans are very often not necessary and can even be harmful. The chiropractors at Ipswich Chiropractic Clinic are highly trained and experienced in recognising different forms and causes of back pain and knowing when imaging is required. They can recognise when it is safe to perform therapy and when more information is needed.

X-rays in Ipswich Chiropractic Clinic

Ipswich Chiropractic Clinic has the facilities available to make an x-ray when it’s necessary. The state-of-the-art digital x-ray equipment is situated right in the clinic. This means that the results are available almost immediately, so there’s no delay in starting therapy. Your chiropractor can show you your x-rays and explain any findings too you. This does not mean that the chiropractors take x-rays of every patient. Radiation from x-rays carries potential (small) risks. Also, taking unnecessary x-rays wastes both your time and money. The decision on whether to make x-rays is always based on the latest guidelines.

MRI scans and other imaging

Some more complex problems require referral to another facility for an MRI scan or other imaging, such as ultrasound or a CAT scan. Your chiropractor is able to help you to arrange this. Once the imaging is completed, you can return to the chiropractor with the images and/or reports.
